EQ therapy is a form of therapy where the focus is on getting in touch your emotions. You are encouraged to feel how you feel right now, how it feels in your body and whether there are any emotions that arise. What one does as an EQ therapist is to help others help themselves by being a support to acknowledge any feelings that come up during a therapy, which is empowering for an individual to learn to like and acknowledge themselves. The reason that acknowledging the feelings makes one acknowledge oneself is that as children we live in our feelings, identify with them. This may be the reason why when conflicts arise between adults people can react completely out of proportion to what is happening; because something is triggered from an emotion that was not recognized or dealt with in a good way as a child. That is why it is so important to improve our relationship with ourselves by making this inner journey. I see giving therapy as help for self-help.
